HOW TO APPLY TO BECOME AN AUTHORIZED RETAILER

RETAIL STORE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Merchants who would like to accept EBT/SNAP must be licensed to participate in the FOOD STAMP PROGRAM. A separate food stamp program permit is required for each store location. If you own more than one stores, a separate application for each is required. Below are the following information that will help merchant to start their application as an authorized retailer.

*Note: You may not accept food stamp benefits until your store has been licensed under your ownership and you are authorized by USDA, FNS. However EBT Cash Benefits can be accepted while your EBT food stamp benefit permit application is being processed.

APPLY FOR EBT / SNAP LICENSE

Complete the food stamp permit application to become an authorized retailer for EBT / SNAP benefits.

BECOME ELIGIBLE

Only authorized retailers may accept food stamp benefits. If an EBT food stamp benefit permit application is being processed, you may accept EBT Cash Benefits.

EBT / SNAP Application Package for Retailer Authorization:

Merchant will need to complete an application for a food stamp permit application. The following documents are included in the EBT / SNAP application package:

1. Food Stamp Program Application for Stores, Form FNS-252
2. FNS Field Office Cover Letter
3. Combined Store Eligibility Criteria Fact Sheet and a Checklist
